Warwick Doncaster has always had a love for fishing, as a child he would go fishing with his great-grandfather on the Clarence River in northern New South Wales. His great-grandfather would fashion a fishing reel by removing both ends of a jam tin, placing a timber dowel in the middle of it and spooling the fishing line around the outside of the jam tin.
Warwick moved from fisherman to fishing reel collector when he came across some wooden fishing reels at a local flea market. The collecting bug bit and since that initial find over 30 years ago, Warwick has built an unrivalled collection of vintage Australian fishing reels and memorabilia. Through research and personal contacts with fishing reel manufacturers, fishing identities and their families, Warwick has become one of the pre-eminent experts on vintage Australian fishing reels.
