Ideal

In 1946 Ideal side-casts reels were first made by Les Wilson founder of ‘L. Wilson & Co. Fishing Tackle Manufacturers’. They had a cast bronze metal frame with wooden spools. In 1948, he made reels for Len Butterworth which were marketed under the ‘Pastime’ brand and sold throughout Australia. Les first started out in the fishing industry manufacturing swivels from pins he imported from England, this was done under his house. He is still involved with the tackle business he founded.
