Dinkum

Dinkum reels first appeared in a newspaper advertisement for Geo Shaw Sports Depot in August 1917, it reads (Call and inspect absolutely the best and cheapest Casting Reel on the market the DINKUM. Made of wood and rustles gunmetal. Large sized for 22/6) In 1924 they appeared in a Cribb & Foote advertisement in the Queensland Times.

In 1926, Dinkum reels appeared in the same paper in an advertisement for ‘McKenzie and Jackson’. Dinkum Gut Lines and Tackle appeared to be their house brand for fishing tackle. Not sure who made these reels as they were a V-slot reel which appeared to be marketed before the ACME reel.
