Livingstone Engineering operated from Ester St. Fortitude Valley after the Second World War. Two of the workers were Ken Meiklejohn and Jack Blank around 1948 purchased the business. After a time Ken Meiklejohn bought Jack Blank’s share of the business. Jim Gibson remembers going down to the factory in company of Ken Jnr, his best friend during the period 1948-1950. Mrs. Daisey Meiklejohn worked in the office. Tom (Last name unknown) was the foreman. Ken Snr was a keen fisherman and the family & Jim often went fishing at Caloundra. Metal work for the reels was made in the factory, but the Bakelite spools were purchased in large drums and were ready for assembly.  Narrated by Jim Gibson to Kerry McGrath.
