Alvey Wedgelock

Alvey started making Alvey Wedgelock Reels around 1938 paying royalties to the original inventor. The original wedgelock design was patented by James Wallace, engineer of Yeronga, Queensland in 1929. Alvey continued to make these reels with various combinations of spool and drag systems until they ceased making wedgelock reels in late 1951. Wedgelock Pat 796/40 is stamped on the turntable. There is no record of this patent number.
