Allan Knight was a keen fisherman and reel maker from Iluka. This is a description of his reels in Allan’s own words:
“Here is the basic info on how the reels were made. The reels were based on the English Avon Royal. The discs are of Lamipannel, the rungs of aluminium tube, back plate of grey P.V.C sheet. The bearing holder, reel mount, spring clip holder are injection moulded in polypropylene in a simple hand operated injection moulding machine which I made (I was a toolmaker by trade). The clip is stainless spring wire and the bearings are a Commercial Glacier DU bushing. I sold them only to friends and by word of mouth. I no longer make them. I hope this helps and thank you for your interest. “
This reels were made in several different sizes.
